I have been getting panic attacks a kinda "Separation anxiety" and i see my doctor, he refereed me to a psychiatrist. what will happen, what will they do…?

Please help! x
Also, this may help for your answer!! – I life with just my dad and i only get them when he goes away for the night out or something – my panics really only happen at night, like if i was to stay over my nans or a mates home.

AWW = [I’m sorry you are going threw this! I’ve recently recovered over panic attacks (anxiety) not so long ago. I had it over 1 year ago (when I was 17 b4 i turned 19)

The best advice I can give you is DON’T TAKE ANY PILLS HE/SHE MAY OFFER YOU. You WILL become depended on them.

just talk to your psychiatrist, tell him why you may think you might of had panic attacks, and he may give you more information as of why you’re having them, and give you methods(treatment) on how to deal, and become cured = D

panic attacks (due to anxiety disorder) may be brought upon you, due to STRESS. Stress being the main reason, and possibility the only (in my opinion) so just calm down, take a deep breathe, and take everything slowly.

you’ll be just fine ^_^

i have been suffering from panic attacks now for 3 months and really cant learn to deal with them. when one comes on, i automatically think i am going to die ie im having a heart attack, i have a blood clot. its ruining my life. i have had acupunture, tried yoga taken tablets, used bach remedies but nothing. i know i have a fear of death but this is beyond control. i have been checked and i have a healthy heart and healthy lungs. but what are the chest pains i always get?? help someone please :(

Hi Vicky-

A lot of what’s going on with panic attacks is that you start to fear the panic attacks themselves, and that makes the whole situation worse. It becomes a whole vicious cycle that’s really difficult to control. You need a way to feel (and be) in control of the situation so you’re not living in fear of the next attack.

I’m a massage therapist, and I’ve worked with a lot of people who deal with panic attacks and anxiety. I don’t know what’s going on in your life, but stress is usually a huge component. You say this has been going on for 3 months. What happened in your life 3 months ago? Was there some traumatic experience? That’s just some stuff to look at.

On a practical level, caffeine can contribute to stress and anxiety, so if you drink a lot of coffee or soda, that’s something you could cut down on and see if it helps. Also, are you getting enough sleep? When you’re already stressed out, sleep deprivation can REALLY mess up your system. Try to get up and go to bed at (reasonably) regular hours. That could help regulate your body clock and system, which in itself could help with your attacks. I’m not saying that just stopping caffeine and getting enough sleep will stop your attacks, but while you have the attacks, it’s important to take care of yourself and reduce stress in as many ways as possible.

There’s a program I’ve recommended to a lot of my clients that’s helped quite a few of them. You might want to take a look at it. It’s called Panic Away, and it does a great job of teaching you how to regain control and stop living in fear of the next attack. You can get a free 5 part email mini-series that lots of people find really helpful all by itself. You can see what other people have to say about it at www.backfaqs.com/panicaway. I couldn’t figure out how to make this link clickable, so I also put it in the Sources area.

As far as the chest pain, you didn’t really describe it, but chest pain is quite common with panic attacks. Is yours sharp, and does it go away pretty quickly, or is it more like a "catch" that stops or interrupts your breath? Either way, as long as you’ve been checked out physically as you said, it’s nothing to worry (more) about. The pains are caused by the fact that your panic attacks cause really rapid breathing and heartbeats, and that can make the muscles in your chest contract. It’s not uncommon for a person’s chest to be sore for several days after a panic attack.

Anyway, I hope some of this helps, and feel free to let me know if there’s any way I can help.

I wish you the best of luck! I know how awful it is to be in the grip of something you can’t control.

I have so much to write about this FBFC, yet I am almost speechless. (Ha – who am I kidding? I’m never lost for words). This took us a really long time, probably about 8 hours of playing time total, if not more. Which really reminds me of how much of a life I have.

OK. Seriously. I think we all hate this song now, because we have played it for so long, lol. But this is DEFINITELY the most epic thing to have ever happened on Rock Band. It’s not really easy on any instrument, Guitar has an insane solo, Bass is basically just as difficult as Guitar for the entire song, as well as pretty strange fretting during the “Weird Organ Part” as we began to call it, hahaha. Drums are INSANE. I’ll have to ask Santos exactly how many people have FCed it in general on drums, but it’s not a lot.. Vocals are obviously the easiest (well if you are tone deaf I guess they wouldn’t be easy), but there is one phrase that’s kind of a pain in the if you aren’t consistent.

I can’t believe we did this, honestly. It’s so amazing. I’ve never really been one to brag about our accomplishments, but I think after this we deserve it. I have no reservations this time: This -IS- the most insane and epic thing to have ever been done on Rock Band since it was released.

Make sure you give SantoOs lots of love, he FCed this TWELVE times throughout the course of our grinding. No other drummer has FCed it that many times, let alone in Band Quickplay, where there is a ridiculous amount of pressure. A lot of you hardcore followers know that it was usually JPrez that choked our runs, but don’t give him too much beef.. I’d like to see you FC a song as nuts as that under the pressure he had when it was all relying on him. The worst was probably when he missed in the last 12 seconds of the song. You can imagine how bad he felt after that. We also Full Band 100%ed this, but Negative overstrummed in about the last 30 seconds of the song.

It’s not just about doing the FBFC though. A huge reason why we were able to keep doing it after all of the frustration is because we are really good friends. We support each other and don’t let the game get in the way of our friendship. I think that’s the most important thing of all.

Longest description ever? haha. Be sure to favorite, comment, rate, and enjoy the video, we worked very hard to get this. :)

She started having panic attacks in the mourning and blackouts. She went to the Doctor and he perscribed anti-depressants for her and told her she had a chemical inbalance. The Doctor didn’t test her or anything he just asked her question for about ten minutes then perscribed anti-depressants. He later then got his license to practice medicine taken away. Her panic attacks went away but eventually she will have to go off the medication. I have been reading about panic attacks and I am psych major so I understand a little bit about the brain and disorders can anyone help shed more light on the subject of panic attacks and black outs?

I suffer panic attack so I can relate to how your gf must be feeling, & its great she has you being supportive & someone she can talk about her problems to.

When I firt started having panic attacks I had no clue what was happening to me I thought I was going crazy.
It came to a point I had many blackouts and couldnt even leave my house. If I did my heart would start to race so fast & start sweating, tremblin & could not speak nor concentrate etc (all the symptoms).
It’s somthing you have no control over, I read so much advice about the breathing excericse to do, its not useful what so ever!! does not help, well not for me anyways & really dont think it wold help anyone with this disorder. Imagine trying doing it infornt of someone you dont know while having a panic atack they would think your totally insane haha.

Anyways It came to much for me to cope with and it was scary not knowing what was wrong with me so in the end I went to the hospital who diagnosed me with panic disorder.
In away it was kind of a relief knowing what I had wrong with me and knowing it is supposed to be curable over time.
The doctor put me on anti depressents & Trancs
which had MANY side effects but after months of trying different medications finally found one that worked great with me. If I stop taking my medication the PANIC all comes back, or if Im even a few hours late of taking my medication itys really not nice but id rather that than have panic attacks.

Well I hope sharing my information with you helps.

I am 13 and have have two panic attacks. i havent gone to the doctor but their is anxiety disorder in my mums past. I had my first panic attack when i had a needle, and the second when i flew off fast scooter. i dont know how to deal with the attacks and my mum dosnt help, all she says is calm down and acts as if im embarrising. i htink she thinks im exagerating over little things. but when it happends its out of my control i cant stop shaking and hyperventilating, my hands freeze up and i had severe tingling in my face and a very pale face.Mum dosnt want to take me to the doctor or buy any medications. i agree with her when she says she dosnt want me on any strong perscribed drugs. she dosnt want to spend lots of money taking me to phyciatrists or phycologists(im not sure which one) but i want to get better. any advice. please give me good answers im realy stressed about it all

I get panic attacks too, I am 22 now but I started getting them when I was 14. I would not recommend medication, I was on medication for awhile when I was 16 and it really messed with my head a lot, it didn’t help that much I still got attacks. I think the best thing is to just learn to manage the attacks. If you start to feel really anxious or feel signs that one might be coming, try to find somewhere to sit down. When I get one I try to get outside where there is fresh air and sit down somewhere private and take deep breaths until it passes. It also helps to drink water. Panic attacks can be scary, but the most important thing to remember is that you CANNOT die from a panic attack and it WILL pass, just keep telling yourself that when you are having one. The worst thing is getting them during school, I used to just go to the bathroom or nurse’s office. You will probably grow out of them eventually, a lot of teenagers get them. Mine have gotten less frequent the past few years, I only get 1 or 2 a year. Oh and be careful if you get older and start to experiment with alcohol, it can trigger attacks in a lot of people including me.

I had a very bad panic attack about an hour ago. See i have mitral valve prolapse and panic attacks occur in about 90% of people that have this. My heart races all the time and i get out of breath alot. Well i couldn’t get my breathing to slow down and to calm myself down i decided to go for a ride well i got stuck in traffic and started to hyperventilate and i almost parked my car in the middle of an extremely busy highway to find help. I drove far enough to get to where my friend works and when i started talking to her i calmed down a little. But being that my hearts still racing and i’m still out of breath i’m scared that its going to happen again. Any suggestions?

Keep a cell phone handy. From what you said here it seems that you calm down easier when talking to someone. That’s good because it puts your mind in a different direction to focus on something else. Remember panic attacks are all psychological. I would suggest to not put yourself purposefully in the middle of traffic or much less out for a car ride in the middle of an attack. It can lead you to do things that would be very very bad.. especially in the middle of traffic! Put on some music or the tv.. those might help to. :-) Good luck!

I’ve been having hardcore panic attacks for the past 2 weeks and its usually happens during class.
I have exams in a week and I cant afford to miss any more lessons not to mention, what if I get nervous during the exam and have to leave? ( I get really nauseas )

If youve ever had panic attacks, what did you do to calm yourself down?

have any tips?
Please help

Dont really worry about panic attacks
I would give you one small tip to get rid of panic attacks.
Imagine you are in the middle of the circle and panic attacks and fear full thoughts trying to attack and you are trying to avoid but it is following you.
Now what you do is let those thoughts come to you and you just ignore them and please note that it is not farmfull just ignore them and you will be ok.
